1995
Startup Internet Company

We began as "BusinessFinance.com - The Internet First Business Capital Search Engine". We researched the approval criteria of over 4,000 business lenders and over 3,000 business to business credit line providers. We made this data free to search by any business owners seeking to fund their businesses. To date ourselves, businessfinance.com was one of the first 10,000 website domains ever registered.


1997
The Business Capital Search Engine

We reached out to every major business publication we could find to have them embed our Business Capital Search Engine into their websites. Business Week, INC Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Fast Company, The Wall Street Journal along with hundreds of others signed up to run our first of its kind Business Capital Search Engine. The engine topped out at 150,000 unique visitors a month that resulted in an average of 15,000 completed lender matching searches a month.


2000
Sold To Public Company

In what was then an internet startup company buying frenzy, businessfinance.com was approached by many suitors and finally sold to a publicly traded company. The founders were paid a large chunk of cash and provided with a five year monthly paid consulting agreement. Nice deal if you can get it.


2001
Created The Business Credit Coach

Not part of the public company sale was a new product we had under development called the Business Credit Coach. This product was the very first version of what has today formed the basis of our Private Label Success System. This product was designed solely to help small business owners develop strong business credit scores by providing them with an online coach to guide them through the process. It was sold directly to small business owners that were coming from businessfinance.com which helped it sell an average of about 1,000 Business Credit Coach licenses a month.


2008
The Finance World Crashes

We all know what happened in Q4 of 2008. Basically the world of small business finance ceased to exist. Nearly every business lender in the country stopped all lending activity. It was a horrible time for all in the business finance and business credit industry. But during this time many alternative business lending products were created that are still in the market today such the Merchant Cash Advance, Real Estate Secured Business Loans, Equipment Sale Leasebacks and many others that we were able to help small business owners in need find financing.


2011
Focused On Selling SAAS Platforms

In 2011 we turned our attention away from servicing and selling directly to small business consumers and instead focused on creating an SAAS white label platform that many others in the business finance and business credit industry could use to service their small business clients. The enterprise platform was sold as stand alone software installed on the client servers for $100,000 along with a maintenance and software upgrade package. This proved to be very successful and from which many of our existing competitors today were born.


2016
Developed Our Current Private Label Model

2016 brought another major change to our business model. While we had sold many of our enterprise SAAS software platforms the maintenance of that software being hosted on our clients servers was a constant problem as the clients would try to tweak the software themselves and in doing so break it. We found ourselves in near constant repair mode. This made us look to a more private label model where we would host and control the software along with its upgrades thereby eliminating the constant breaking of the software by our clients. This allowed us to bring the entry costs way down for our new private label clients. This also allowed us to bring on hundreds of new private label clients.


2018
Moved To Doing Business As OwnersPath.com

In 2018 we renamed our business to OwnersPath and created the first version of the ownerspath.com website. This name was speficially selected to not have the words business, finance, or credit in them so that we would be less likely to come up on consumer based searches when small business consumers are seeking to find financing or build business credit. This was done so that we would not be seen as being in competition for consumer based business with our private label clients. To that end, we have kept monitoring consumer based keyword phrase searches and when OwnersPath has been found on those consumer based searches we have reached out and requested to be removed. Making OwnersPath's #1 goal to serve our private label clients.


2024
Developed Turnkey Business Financing Platform

In early 2024 we saw a glaring need to assist our private clients in the funding of their small business clients. Our private label clients were finding it difficult to get approved by major direct lenders and were being forced to use third party middlemen super brokers to get their deals done. Our private label clients were also being asked to do all the work of prequalifying their prospects, doing all the document collection work and being the closer for the loan offers. Often the super brokers would circumvent our private label clients and cut them out of the deal. We took on the task to build an automated pre-qualification, to application, to credit report integration, to document collection, to direct lender placement and offer system where our private label clients only had to generate the pre-qualification success scans and our system would take them the rest of the way. This incredible software funding system launched in early Q4 2024. This system has now been upgraded by adding to it live prequalification call reps, professional funding advisors, live document collection processors and highly effective loan closers to lessen the amount of work our private labels have to do on each funding deal and to maximize the number of these loans that small business owners accept.
